On October 14–15, 2010, the National Academies Standing Committee on Use of Emerging Science for Environmental Health Decisions held a public workshop on the detection of later-life effects of exposure to environmental stressors, such as malnutrition or chemicals, in utero (in the womb) or soon after birth. This brief document summarizes the perspectives offered over the course of the workshop.
