Dr. Teresa Fryberger
Teresa Fryberger came to the Academies in 2013 to serve as Director of the Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology. She is an accomplished research program and policy manager in the chemical, environmental, and energy sciences, with experience at NASA, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the Department of Energy and the Brookhaven and Pacific Northwest National Laboratories. Earlier in her career, Dr. Fryberger was an associate editor at Science and a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institute for Science and Technology. Dr. Fryberger earned her Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Northwestern University and her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Marilee Shelton-Davenport
Marilee Shelton-Davenport, Ph.D., is a seasoned science policy program director who joined the Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology (BCST) in at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine in 2016, after 17 years with the National Academies Board on Life Sciences. Marilee has an extensive portfolio of work at the intersection of chemistry, biology, and health including impactful activities that serve a variety of federal agencies. A natural at building bridges and working across traditional siloes, Marilee’s work includes consensus studies and the development of innovative activities and communication approaches to engage a wide breadth of scientists and stakeholders in impactful dialogs related to emerging technologies, environmental health and toxicology, and chemical and biological defense. Marilee received her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her B.S. in Biochemistry from Clemson University.
Dr. Camly Tran
Camly Tran joined the Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in 2014 as a postdoctoral fellow after receiving her Ph.D. in chemistry from the Department of Chemistry at Brown University and is currently a Program Officer. She received various honors including the Division of Earth and Life Studies Award (2016), Elaine Chase Award for Leadership and Service (2015), American Chemical Society Global Research Exchanges Education Training Program (2014), and the Rhode Island NASA grant (2013). Dr. Tran completed the workshop summary and report of Mesoscale Chemistry (2015) and the Changing Landscape of Hydrocarbon Feedstocks for Chemical Production (2016). She has also supported the consensus studies: Spills of Diluted Bitumen from Pipelines: A Comparative Study of Environmental Fate, Effects, and Response (2016; Chemical Laboratory Safety and Security: A Guide to Developing Standard Operating Procedures (2016); Effective Chemistry Communication in Informal Environments (2016); and Communicating Chemistry: A Framework for Sharing Science: A Practical Evidence-Based Guide (2016). She is currently supporting activities on chemistries of the microbiomes, chemical weapons, and chemical precursors for improvised explosive devices.
Dr. Anna Sberegaeva
Anna Sberegaeva joined the Academies in 2016 as an Associate Program Officer of the Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology. Prior to that she was a recipient of the American Society for Engineering Education Fellowship and held a position of a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Naval Research Laboratory. Anna earned her Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry from the University of Maryland College Park and her Masters of Science degree in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Florida. Anna graduated with a B.S. (Chemistry) and a B.A. (Linguistics) degree from the Herzen State Pedagogical University in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Ms. Jessica Wolfman
Jessica Wolfman is a Senior Program Assistant for the Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology and the Board on Environmental Studies and Toxicology. She joined the Academies in August of 2017. Jessica graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dickinson College in May of 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences and a minor in Mathematics.
Mr. Jarrett Nguyen
Jarrett Nguyen is a Senior Program Assistant for the Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology. Jarrett began working for the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in October of 2016. He graduated from James Madison University in May of 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Environmental Science with a minor in Geographic Science.
Ms. Suzanne Thilenius
Suzanne Thilenius is the Administrative Coordinator for the Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology. Suzanne began working for the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in 1999. She earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from Marymount University and a Master of Liberal Arts (MLA) from Johns Hopkins University. Suzanne graduated with a BA in Literature from American University.
